Zaynab Amena Counselling Psychotherapy
Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
I'm a psychotherapeutic counsellor who has worked in clinical practice for over five years. In that time I have supported individuals make sense of experiences and crisis points that come with difficult feelings like confusion, distress and shame. My work is to be with my clients, so that what needs to be felt, heard and expressed can be met with compassion and curiosity. I see this process as integrating and empowering.

I believe therapeutic work can be a powerful way to make sense of our experiences and how they have shaped us, it can also be a journey someone starts at any time, if they want to learn more about themselves.

Central to how I work is an understanding that social and political realities affect our emotional and mental health as well as a sensitivity to the cultural parts of ourselves.
What to Expect
I can provide short term (6-12 sessions) and long term therapy (as long as you need). In our first session we will discuss how you would like to work together, I will do a simple assessment to get an idea of your background and you can ask any questions.
Sessions will be held by a clear confidentiality agreement. They will be 50 mins long and we can agree to meet online or in person.
"Our deepest, most profound stirrings of self-appreciation, self-love and self-knowledge surface in the presence of a person whom we experience as totally accepting."
Zinker, J
